It’s summertime, so that means the next version of iNav is here! If you are new to iNav, or don’t know; there are two big released of iNav each year. One in the summer, around June, and the other in the winter around December. Approximately every six months. So what’s new in iNav 5.0? Lets take a look.

Radio, Telemetry, & Protocols

  • ESC refresh rate can now only be configured for brushed motors – #8099 & #1543
  • Fix SmartAudio with the TBS Sixty9 – #7985
  • ESC protocol falls back to Multishot if DShot is not available – #7977
  • IRC Tramp support added for the Matek 1G3SE VTx – #7949

OSD

  • Pilots can set the time to show altitude difference and distance on the OSD with ESP32 Radar – #8027
  • ESP32 Radar now uses correct units for all OSD units types – #7972
  • ESP32 Radar altitude up and down arrows fixed, from 3.0 font change – #7914
  • CMS and statistics page layouts adjusted for HD Canvas mode systems – #7871
  • mAh used can now cope with batteries larger than 9999mAh – #7868 & #1475
  • CRSF power stat updated – #7811
  • Switch position indicators added to the OSD – #7734 & #1429
  • Change the length of time to display system messages – #6850

General

  • u-blox 10 GPS modules supported, and version detection improved – #8058
  • Outputs can be assigned by target defaults, or all outputs can be only motors or only servos – #7928
  • Issue fixed where RTH sanity check fails, due to the home distance suddenly increasing when a safehome becomes active – #7917
  • Fix the config change bug – #7891, #1484, #1482, & #1478
  • Fixed bug that may have caused a flyaway if a failsafe occurred while using adjustments – #7829
  • Emergency landing due to sensor failure will auto-cancel if sensors start working again – #7790
  • Modes for multi-rotors no longer show up on fixed wings – #7694
  • Improvements to launch mode abort procedures – #7642
  • You can change the colour of your LED strips using an RC channel – #7618 & #1406

Advanced Features, Tuning, & Programming

  • Fixed wing level trim can now be adjusted in flight – #8028 & #1517
  • Allow the tuning of the TPA Time Constant in flight – #8023 & #1515
  • Total number of logic conditions increased from 32 to 64 – #8022 & #1514
  • You can set a target rate or angle for an axis in Programming – #7964 & #1505
  • The number of battery cells can be used in logic conditions – #7814 & #1448
  • Comparative operations MIN and MAX added to logic conditions – #7803 & #1445

Automated Flight & Waypoint Missions

  • You can now force that the waypoint altitude is reached before the craft is allowed to continue to the next waypoint – #7644
  • Landing detection has been added to fixed wings – #7270

Configurator

  • Fixed OSD elements re-appearing when they are supposed to be hidden; when the OSD layout is changed – #1555
  • You can no longer adjust the ESC PWM rate – #1547
  • Clicking help icons now take you to the settings document – #1522
  • Adjustments re-ordered – #1521
  • 3D Motor configuration moved to the Outputs page – #1519
